For many years now PING have produced a range of fairway woods that inspire confidence when placed behind the ball and are one of the pinnacles of any club thats easy to hit. The shallow faces have proved to be incredibly easy to launch and flight even when hitting from tight lies. The G425 fairway woods and looks set to be another winner. The PING G425 fairway woods benefit from FaceWrap design which sees a thin, high strength maraging face wrap around into both the sole and crown. This allows the face to flex more and produces superb ball speeds even on off centre strikes.
The innovations continue with the introduction of Spinsistency technology; the face of the fairway woods are constructed with face curvature that modifies the roll profile, especially low on the face. When shots are struck low on the face, they will tend to launch low and rise due to a high spin rate. The Spinsistency design essentially lowers the loft on the bottom part of the face so shots that are struck there will leave the club with lower spin and increased ball speed. Low strikes are the most common of all mishits with a fairway wood or a hybrid so this technology will make a huge difference to all levels of golfer.
There is a new, strategically positioned sole weight which serves to increase the M.O.I of the PING G425 fairway woods making it the most forgiving fairway wood they have ever produced. A three-dot alignment system has also been added to the crown, to aid with alignment visuals. Like the range of the G425 range the fairway woods look superb, and PING have hit the spot with the new stealth black colour scheme.
There are the same three models available in the fairways as in the driver. The G425 Max is the most versatile of the three and will be the most popular for that reason with its versatile loft profiles. The G425 LST is the low spin offering and its slightly smaller, compact head will be used more by the better player. It is also a great option for the golfer who struggles to keep the ball flight down. The SFT variant is for the golfer that tends to slice the ball too much and benefits from a fixed heel weight to give the club more of a draw bias. The stock shaft options are excellent. The standard PING Alta remains and this popular shaft. There is a new ultra-lightweight PING Distanza 40-gram shaft which will be a perfect fit for senior golfers and those with a slower swing. There are also premium offerings that are available without any upcharge including the PING Tour 65/75, the superb Tensei AV Raw Orange and the tour proven Aldila Rogue White.
