Taylormade P770 Graphite Irons
When youve got three of the five best golfers on the planet on staff, you obviously get their input into any new player’s iron design. The new Taylormade 2020 P770 is very close in shape to the previous P760 iron. Just with a slightly longer blade length. Expect a thin topline and minimal hosel offset as well as a super clean look at address. P770 irons are new for 2021 with a whole new category detail in players distance.
Aimed at the more serious ball striker who likes the extra pop that fast face technology delivers, but in a smaller package. It is what better ball strikers prefer. Taylormade have used the DNA recipe (great performance, fantastic sound and feel and gorgeous looks) of P790 in designing the new multi-material P770. And an exciting new iron has been born. Thanks to weaker lofts than the P790 iron, its a more traditional loft set up so the P770 will launch higher and spin more. Yet give up virtually no carry distance. Its still got a rocket in its iron shell.
Taylormade P770 Graphite is a body cast 8620 carbon steel. Like lots of modern wedges, but a fast, forged 4140 steel face. Speed pocket and internal speed foam guarantee great ball speed, sound and feel. A minimal offset and a thin top line, but with help to 46g of tungsten positioning internally the centre of gravity lowers. And its improved stability. So it looks great, its quick, feels great, sounds good and performs.
What is not to like about this iron? Squeezing everything golfers love about the P790 into a smaller package will appeal to many. Just on looks alone. Many golfers who liked the P790 but just thought they were more power than control means this P770 gives you an easy decision. Especially when you realise the two are quite closely matched for forgiveness. Go compact, yet go long…
